Writers rarely know exactly where their words will travel.
An article might be discovered months after publication. A social media post could reach someone on the other side of the world. A sentence written almost casually might provide the answer, encouragement or inspiration somebody desperately needed that day.
That is one of the remarkable things about writing.
We often measure content through statistics: views, impressions, engagement, rankings and conversions. Those numbers matter, particularly when writing forms part of a business strategy. However, there is another measurement that analytics cannot always show us — the impact our words have on another human being.
This Blessed Sunday, remember the person behind the page view.
Write something useful. Explain something complicated. Share knowledge you have gained through experience. Encourage somebody beginning a journey you once struggled through yourself. Your audience may be larger than you realise, and your influence may extend far beyond the numbers displayed on a dashboard.
Not everything we write will change someone’s life, nor does it need to. Sometimes helping one person understand something a little better is enough.
Keep writing. Keep communicating. Keep sharing what you know.
Somewhere out there, your words may be exactly what somebody needed to find today.
